Christmas Tree Buyer's Guide
Tips and Considerations
Here are some are important tips and considerations when selecting a tree.
- Longevity. All trees are delivered fresh, however depending on the species, some are just more hardy (see chart below). Take this into consideration if you plan to have the tree up for over a month.
- Foliage density. Some species are "fuller" than others, thus have a different appearance. The higher the density, the more branches there are for tree decorations. Douglas firs tend to have very dense foliage.
- Thickness of branches. Sturdiness of branches vary among species. The sturdier the branch the heavier the decoration it can hold without drooping. Noble Firs are known for very sturdy branches and tops.
- Shade of green. The color of the foliage varies from species to species. Depending on your personal tastes, you may prefer one color over another.
- Consider the size. It's easy to buy a tree that is too large for your room. Generally, the taller the tree, the wider the base will be. Keep floor space in mind when choosing a tree for your home or office. Remember, presents under the tree are part of the “decoration” and a narrow low tree means packages may look cramped but be great for apartments and offices with less floor space. A wider tree can be raised a few inches for presents and use less total floor space, as well as making the tree taller.
- Scent. All of our trees have a traditional evergreen forest aroma, but the strength will vary from species to species.
- Please read the descriptions of each species of tree and pick the one that is right for you.
