About Christmas Tree Recycling
Real Christmas trees are a natural product, which means they are 100% recyclable. They are also a renewable resource, for every tree harvested, another is planted in its place. Most municipalities offer free curb-side recycling services after the Christmas season has concluded. Service groups or churches in your area may also pick up your tree, free of charge.
Christmas trees are typically ground up into mulch for a variety of purposes, however people have found other ways to recycle or reuse the trees. Christmas trees have been found useful as sand and soil erosion barriers on beaches. Trees have also been lowered into ponds to provide cover for small fish and other aquatic life and have been used as cover in wildlife habitat restoration projects.
