The Meaning of Christmas
Christmas is a very special and significant time of year. It is when the Christian church celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The Holy Bible tells us these things about Christ's birth:
Isaiah 9:6 (Old Testament)
"6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
"6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
Luke 2:12-14 (New Testament)
"12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."
Christians believe that God sent His son, Jesus into this world to save the world-- by providing the necessary sacrifice to atone for our sin. We teach that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their Saviour shall have eternal life with God in Heaven.
